It’s going to be a great show! Appearing alongside of this fabulous sax player is: Dave Thompson on guitar, Kevin Muir on bass, and Steve Zuccala on drums. These are some of the best talented and best loved Jazz musicians on the scene!
Shortly after graduating from the Eastman School of Music with a Masters degree in jazz performance, Dave Wiffen spent a year touring the U.S. and Japan with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Since then he has performed in a wide variety of musical styles with many different groups including The Peter Appleyard Jazz Orchestra, Manteca, The Spitfire Band, the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Orchestra London and the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra.
Other career highlights include backing up such diverse artists as Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Marvin Hamlisch, Michael Brecker, Gerry Mulligan, Dave Leibman, Richie Beirach, Lew Soloff, Rufus Reid and Rob McConnell.
He performs regularly throughout the U.S. and Canada in various shows and has also been in the pit orchestra of the Stratford Festival for several seasons as well as several Toronto productions including The Producers and The Full Monty.
Equally comfortable playing jazz, rock, blues and classical music, Dave’s career has taken him all across Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Japan, the Caribbean and even Dubai playing music in all the above styles.
He has been the saxophone instructor at Wilfrid Laurier University since 2001 and held the same position at the University of Western Ontario for six years.
