From Montreaux to Havana to Western Canada, join us in welcoming Greg Prior to the Jazz Room. Greg Prior has played 9 major jazz festivals across Canada, and toured and recorded extensively. Comfortable with symphonic, jazz and Latin styles, Greg brings diverse talent to the stage.
Greg has toured with artists such as Prairie Ceilidh (Celtic/Canadian), Tim Tamashiro (Singer), Barrage (Fiddle group), Peter Knight (Flamenco guitarist), Vibre (Jazz Ensemble), and Vicky Oveson’s Masacote (Latin Jazz). He also has worked with the Calgary Choral Society, Decidedly Jazz Danceworks, Blue Collar Dance, Whisper Not Jazz, The Jazz Winds, and Sara and David Hamilton.
Greg will bring a piece of Havana to the stage from his road trip with the ensemble Cuba Libre – various styles of Afro Cuban popular and traditional music.
Joining Greg for this outing will be an inspired combination of some of KW`s hottest players. Percussion factors prominently, with both Donnie McDougall and Andy MacPherson striking various drums, cymbals, vibes, and other rhythmic things. Laying it down on keys will the versatile Paul Stouffer, rounding out what will inevitably by a hot November night at THE JAZZ ROOM.
