Ron McClure first made his mark on the jazz scene for his tenure with the world popular Charles Lloyd Quartet, featuring Keith Jarrett and Jack Dejohnette – Down Beat magazine’s Group of the Year.
“McClure’s bass playing is full of exceptional versatility and strange unique subtleties, by turns magical and dreamy, satirical and meditative.” – Tim Price, Reading Times
Sitting in at the Village Vanguard with Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams, and Wayne Shorter he met Joe Henderson with whom he toured for two decades. When he’s not teaching at New York University, he solos, tours and fronts a stellar quartet with whom he recorded the brilliantly melodic groove “Walter Davis”.
