Have a listen to “Fourteen” from their first album!
A repeat performer at The Jazz Room, Jim Lewis is one of Canada’s finest trumpeters. On faculty at both Humber and University of Toronto, Lewis has made a particular stamp on some of the finest emerging instrumentalists of our day. First time as band leader, this will be a special opportunity to hear Jim in an intimate trio format—in a style often described as chamber jazz. Known for his innovativeness and creativity in the new music scene, this evening is sure to delight with improvisational prowess, as well as path-breaking compositions.
Joining Lewis on trumpet, is the formidable combination of Andrew Downing (double-bass) and special guest David Occhipinti. Sure to sample from their album “On a Short Path from Memory to Forgotten” this group is known to break all the rules while also presenting a satisfying and unified musical experience.
