Toronto-based jazz trio Myriad 3 is made up of Chris Donnelly on piano, Daniel Fortin on bass, and Ernesto Cervini on drums, and brings with it a unique mix of “modern jazz, meets classical, meets pop, meets Oscar Peterson.”
Time Out New York encapsulated Ernesto Cervini as “a buoyant drummer as well as a sharp composer and bandleader,” while the jazz bible, Downbeat described his fluid style as one that “exemplifies `float like a butterfly, sting like a bee’.” He was named composer of the year by Jazz Report Magazine and has won a Juno for Best Jazz Recording.
In September 2008, Chris released his Juno-nominated, debut album with Alma Records called ‘Solo,’ featuring a blend of original material and arrangements of jazz standards. This also earned him nominations for ‘Best Recording of the Year’ and ‘Best Keyboardist of the Year’ from the 2009 National Jazz Awards.
“..this guy sure knows his way around the piano. And his virtuoso playing blows the mind… In a way, he resembles a young Duke Ellington, but without the swing.” – Patricia Herlevi, World Music Central
Daniel Fortin completes the mix with a fluid and responsive style and compelling lines.
