Guitarist Samuel Bonnet has always felt “between two waters”. Born in Israel and raised in France, it was Montreal that allowed him to fully affirm his multiple identities and artistic colors between classical guitar and jazz.
In his 5th album, HYBRIDE, Samuel tells us his personal story through 7 tracks that form his musical puzzle. A space where sound exploration reveals its infinite possibilities! We discover “Recuerdos de Alhambra” arranged as a jazz waltz, an intimate rereading of the traditional Jewish piece “Hava Nagila”, or an original arrangement of the famous jazz standard “Night in Tunisia”.
Accompanied by outstanding musicians, this “six-strings master” (Serge Truffaut, Le Devoir) offers us a break during which the acoustic sound and the interaction between the guitar, the double bass and the drums are at the heart of the work.
He has performed with various projects (Oriental Blue, Samuel Bonnet 4tet, Ensemble Tessala, LEV) on concert tours in North America, Europe and the Middle East, including the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Montreal Sefarad Festival and the Festival de Musique en Devoluy (France), as well as in jazz clubs such as the Rex Jazz Club (Toronto), the Upstairs Jazz Club (Montreal), the Yellow Submarine (Jerusalem) and the Rockwood Music Hall (New York).
